WOOD ROOFS

Wood roofs can generally be categorized into several types based on their design and construction techniques. Here are some common types of wood roofs:

1. Gable Roof: This is one of the most common roof types, where two roof sections  forming a triangular shape at the end walls. It can be constructed with wooden trusses  rafters.

1. Hip Roof: This roof type slopes down on all four sides and meets at a ridge at the top. It is often seen in residential construction and can be framed using wooden rafters.

1. Flat Roof: Though not entirely flat, this roof type has a very slight pitch for drainage. Wood may be used in the construction of the support structure and decking

1. Mansard Roof: This roof has a double slope on all four sides, where the lower slope is steeper than the upper one. Wood framing can be used to support the structure and decking.

1. Gambrel Roof: Similar to a mansard roof, but with only two slopes on each side, where the lower slope is steeper than the upper one. It is commonly seen in barns  construction.

1. Shed Roof: Also known as a mono-pitched roof. This is a single-sloping roof surface that is attached to a higher wall. Wood framing can be used in its construction.

1. Dutch Gable Roof: This is a hybrid of a gable and a hip roof. Where a gable is placed on top of a hip roof. Wood framing supports the structure and roofing material.

These types can vary in design and appearance, and the choice as often depends on architectural style, climate, and structural but requirements.
